We had the guts to start a rebellion and we can win another Super Bowl.
New Englanders are a tough bunch. We started a war to free ourselves from a world power and won.
We spend hours digging our cars out of snow banks only to have it all melt three days later and flood the streets. We have to fight,or bargain with, the weather on a daily, and often hourly, basis.
We are tough and our teams our tough. But one stands out above them all.
You guessed it.
But why does everyone hate the New England Patriots?
I say, “choke on it.”
As the Boston Patriots, they were amongst the bottom feeders. As the New England Patriots, they have earned their place in history as a dynasty. It all started when Tom Brady replaced an injured Drew Bledsoe.
Thank you, God!
They made it to the Super Bowl in 1997, though to say they “played” in it is an overstatement. The outcome of the game was set in stone by the end of the first quarter. The final score: Green Bay 35, New England 21. But it doesn’t speak to the level of play by the Patriots (boring!).
New England is in the Super Bowl again because we’ve earned it. It’s our turn.
How can anyone in the country not see the link between the indomitable Spirt of the American Revolution, which started in Massachusetts, the people that live here now, and the fighting spirit of the New England Patriots?
The first written word and the first shot of the Revolution (Battle of Bunker Hill) fired was in Massachusetts. Both John and Samuel Adams, two leaders of the American Revolution, were educated in Boston at then Harvard College.
The Battle of Lexington and Concord? Massachusetts.
The Boston Massacre? State Street, Boston, and do I dare say, Massachusetts.
The Boston Tea Party? Boston. Organized by the aforementioned Samuel Adams. Unlike his second cousin John, he was a revolutionary before it was fashionable. His Masters’ thesis from Harvard questioned British rule and supported the rights of colonist to resist unjust laws.
This is our history, our energy.
It just doesn’t get any better.
Feel free to join us anytime. But don’t hate us because we’re winners.
We were the first patriots, so it’s no wonder our New England Patriots are number one.
