You Can Be Happy If You Find the Road to Happiness
Not getting lost along the way is the key.
We are perpetually looking for ways to be happy. Happiness, allegedly, is what gives our lives meaning and purpose. But how do we go about finding this contentment?
Is it only through gratifying ourselves?
We make decisions based on how happy something will make us or whether it will make us happy at all.
What we eat, drink, and buy are all weighed carefully in terms of what is good, better, and best.
We open our eyes in the morning, craving that first cup of coffee. We anticipate the aroma, that first sip. It gradually coaxes us toward consciousness and sweeps away the last cobwebs of the previous night’s dreams. The coffee has met our expectations, and we are happy.
No matter how small the decision, we weigh the pros and cons. What will make us happy?
But what if the road to happiness isn’t about making ourselves happy?
What if it’s about something or someone else?
Sometimes the Goal is the Journey
“…the very purpose of our life is happiness, the very motion of our life is toward happiness.” ~ The Dalai Lama
